Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site Museum Museum Guidelines

We are pleased that you have decided to visit the Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site Museum. Museums are a place of wonder, housing visual aspects of culture, imagination, and history. The primary reason to visit museums is to educate yourself in some way.
In order to ensure that all the guests have an enjoyable visit, we ask you to review and adhere to the following museum policies:
Security Screening For everyone’s safety, all visitors and members must pass through a security check.
Prohibited Items Big-sized objects like umbrellas, camera extension poles, pointers or sharp or piercing items, packages or bags larger than 25 × 25 cms, and pets are not allowed into the Museum.
Do Not Touch damage, vandalize, or destroy museum property. Your touch may not seem like much, but even the slightest contact can damage the surface.
Keep a Safe Distance Keep a safe distance between you and each work of art. This helps to avoid accidental touching or bumping. Always walk at the specified distance from displays and never cross ropes to get a closer look. This is usually at least a one-foot distance.
Use Only Pencils If an accident should occur, a pencil mark is easier to remove than a pen mark.
No leaning on walls or cases (either to write or for physical support). Feel free to sit on the benches or the floor as you talk, write, or draw.
No Food or Drinks liquid, or gum is allowed in the galleries. Do not take food or drinks into the exhibition halls. Smoking is strictly forbidden by law inside the Museum.
Proper Conduct Running, pushing, and roughhousing are not allowed in the museum. Appropriate museum behavior is necessary to avoid accidentally bumping into and damaging works of art. Please don’t run or play around. When you least expect it, something will be knocked over or be broken.
Photography We welcome visitors to photograph or videotape works of art displayed in the Museum for personal use only. No flash, please!

Guidelines for School and Large Groups

  • The maximum group size which can be allowed inside the museum at a time is 25 people.
  • We advise you to put your luggage or school bags in your bus/vehicles to avoid long queues outside the Cloak Room.
  • School and college groups have to make a prior appointment with the Museum authorities before bringing in the students.
For a Curated Walk through the museum and group bookings, please contact the team:
